In 2020, Anwar was pardoned by King Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah. This cleared the way for him to become Prime Minister.
On November 24, 2022, Anwar Ibrahim was sworn in as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia.
